selling a dental practiceAudience

This keynote or break out session is for dentists who are interested in selling their practice or merging it with another entity. This is an essential topic for dentists who are about to retire or new dentists looking to acquire an established practice or become affiliated with a Dental Service Organization (DSO) or Managed Service Organization (MSO).

Overview

Are you preparing your dental practice to be sold or merged? The option you pursue will be very different if you are in your 30s or in your 60s. In the first instance you are likely looking for a different type of work experience – with less emphasis on the business end of your practice. In the second, you may be looking at an exit strategy for your retirement.

For many younger dentists a DSO or MSO can be very attractive. But did you know that the organization you sign up with may be bought and sold again and again over the course of your career? What this means is that you really have no control over who you will be working for. And that is your biggest risk.

If you are 55 or older – this doesn’t matter to you. The DSO or MSO will pay you between 1 and 12 times your Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA). That can be a substantial windfall for your retirement.

This program will explain:

  • Risks of a DSO or MSO
  • Options for selling your practice
  • How to calculate the value of your practice
  • How to maximize what a potential buyer will page

Attendees will learn

When the time is right to sell a practice and the steps that need be taken to maximize your profit.
